Where is St. Francis Animal Rescue located?

St. Francis is a foster home based organization, staffed by volunteers and does not have a location.  We have a post office box, an e-mail address, a web site and a phone messaging service.

Cute long hair orange kittenHow much does it cost to adopt an animal?

Prices are determined by the pet's age, breed, size, and over-all temperament.  Prices generally range from $90 to $350.

Can I try out a cat or kitten in my home before I decided to adopt?

For liability reasons, we cannot allow potential adopters to have one of our pets on a trial basis.  We recommend that all family members attend one of our Adoption Meet and Greet events and spend as much time as possible with our pets to determine which one would be a good fit for their household.

What if I adopt and it doesn't work out?

Our contract states that you must give an adopted animal 6 months to adjust to your household. If at any time you need assistance with inappropriate behavior that your adopted pet is displaying, one of our knowledgable volunteers can assist you. If you absolutey must rehome your adopted pet, please contact St. Francis Animal Rescue.

Is there an age requirement to adopt a pet?
SmokeWe require adopters to be a minimum of 21 years old. Also, because cats can live 20 years or more, we do not adopt out kittens to anyone over the age of 70. This is for the well-being of the cat and the adopter. We recommend that anyone over the age of 70 adopt a cat that is at least 5 years old.

Are your animals housebroken?

All of our cats and kittens are litter-boxed trained.

If I adopt a pet can it go outside?

Our animals are intended to be companions to their owner. They should live with you in your home. Cats that do not roam outside live longer, healthier lives as they will not become lost or exposed to injury, disease, parasites or other hazards.

 Do you take owner surrenders?

Our first priority is to take in adoptable animals that are in danger of being euthanized or have a medical emergency. If we have foster homes available, we can consider owner surrenders.

I can't have a pet, but would like to help the animals, how can I do that?

Volunteer holding a signWe are always in need of volunteers to introduce our cats and kittens to prospective adopters at our Adoption Meet and Greet events or foster a rescued animal in their home. We often need help at our fundraising events. Of course, donations of supplies or money are always needed and go directly to the care of our animals.

What type of items can I donate for your animals?

Purina Kitten Chow, Purina One Kitten, Purina Adult Cat Chow, clumping scent free low dust cat litter, Vari-kennels, cat treats and toys are all welcome.
